UPS charges a customs brokerage fee to deliver to Canada. (its an expedited route through customs, basically)
USPS does not.
UPS delivers in a matter of DAYS.
USPS delivers in a matter of weeks.
UPS offers tracking.
USPS doesnt do shit if the package never makes it, and they don't offer tracking or even a measly delivery confirmation. (because it's transferred into the Canadian mail system)
If our customers in Canada need something fast, we'll ship it UPS and they are fully aware of the excessive brokerage fees... otherwise we ship USPS and it takes up to FIVE WEEKS. (absurd if you ask me, for a package weighing less than 1lb)
From what Ive heard though, FedEx started incorporating the brokerage fees in with their costs for shipping. I'd imagine UPS will be following soon if they want to remain competitive.
