First off, while I was working on installing the tail light, I also removed the rear fender and installed a
license plate bracket which might account for some of the allotted time.
Time allotted: took me about 2 hours, could be done quicker
if you are more electrical savvy than I am.

Installation process:
1. Remove seats and rear plastic panel
2. Remove stock tail light/ install new tail light
3. Run wiring
4. Replace rear plastic panel and then the seats.
1. How to Remove the Rear Plastic Panel on a 2005 Yamaha YZF-R6:
Start by removing the seats, (which I would hope everyone knows how to do)
Once you have the seats removed, you will see two Phillips screw head plastic screws.
If you try to unscrew them, they will spin.
So you have to hold down the edges of it, and then unscrew it.
Next you want to remove the plastic rivets on the underside of the tail which holds the under-tail to the tail fairing.
Take a flat head screw driver and pry the rivet heads out by sticking the
flat head in the slot on the side and twisting.
There are 6 rivets that need to be removed.
Next you need to remove the allen head screw that is under the passenger seat.
Now that all the holders are removed, you can begin to work the plastic panel off the back of the bike.
I honestly couldn’t tell you an exact way to get it off, but I started
by pulling towards the tail light and then twisting it up and around.
2. How to Remove the Stock Tail light and Install the CA Integrated tail light:
Once the fairing is removed you will be able to see the mountings for the tail light.
There are 3 of them. 2 are on the bottom and 1 is on the top of the light.
I didn’t get a picture of what they look like, but they look like a bull’s-eye.
Take a pointed object and poke the center of the rivet.
This should cause the rivet to be able to just lift out. The stock tail light should just come out now.
Now install the new tail light the exact reverse of the way that you just took the stock one out.
Replace the rivets and you’re done with the easy part.
3. Running / installing the wiring for the CA Integrated tail light:
Personally this was the toughest part of the installation for me, cause I am not very good at working with electrical.
I would suggest that you purchase some factory turn signal connectors as that will drastically reduce the stress level.
But here is the way that I did it.
The instruction say to splice into the positive wire on the turn signals.
This is a bit challenging for me because they are not labeled.
So I had to trial and error until I got it correct.
For your benefit I will share my knowledge.
Gray connector is the Left turn signal
Black connector is the Right turn signal
Black wire on both connectors is the Ground (NEG)
The following is the exact wording from the instructions:
“Yellow wires are used for the turn signal wires.
Connect one yellow wire to each positive turn signal wire using provided red connectors.
If you wish to slow down the flash rate, connect the provided white resistor to the positive (yellow)
turn signal wire and the other end to the ground wire using the provided red connectors.”
I ended up having to use the resistors to slow the flash rate down,
but the company mentioned that you try the light without them first and then install them if need be.
Next you can plug the brake light connector into the factor plug
Once everything is in good working order, you can organize your wiring to where you want it.
I ended up placing the resistors inside the seat compartment
because they get hot, and are not supposed to be near paint or plastic.
4. Last step is to replace the rear fairing and seats.
Congratulations, you have now finished installing your new
Clear Alternatives Integrated Sequential LED Tail Light
