Default Local Rider got tips of his finger chopped off by Chain

First off..I guess this isn't truly a crash..but it is a bike related incident.

When I saw him today, I couldn't help but think of the forum..I know it was the old messagenet that had the dude with the nub for a thumb(wessinger?)..but this kid topped it off a bit.

His bike is a stunter...2000 R6..pretty rough shape. He was riding along and felt his coolant reservoir bumping his leg..so he reached down to sort of push it back in place behind the plastics...well he doesn't have a front sprocket cover. His middle finger and pointer finger on his left hand went into the front sprocket. Apparently he just left his glove on and rode back to town straight to the hospital. He ended up losing about an inch off each finger...looks pretty crazy.

I will try to get some pics next time I see him..didn't have my phone on me at the time.

There are two guys that had the fingers taken off back on the MN. I've had a close call once on my fiddy not thinking while riding. Scary as hell and not something I would like to go through.

Sounds like this could have been avoided pretty easily.

Most definitely. Matter of fact I tried GIVING him a spare chain guard that I had sitting in my garage one day..told him he would just have to scrounge up 3 allen head bolts(which I also had there..just didn't feel like sorting through them).

However this is also the same kid that rode around for a couple weeks with no nut holding his sprocket on...it would randomly pop off. He then took a big lock washer and jammed it on there to keep the sprocket in place. I guess he finally realized that it was just as easy to replace the nut.

Oh..his bike is for sale for $4k if anyone is interested.
