Glad to hear you're back on your feet, man!![]()
Glad to hear you're working through this! stay positive!
Wow! haven't seen this until now. Glad you were wearing all of your gear and still able to talk! As far as getting back on, if it were me personally, I would stick to the track and maybe a cruiser if you feel the need to be on the street. Best of luck in your recovery![]()
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW-- What a Ride!"
Hey guys, just wanted to give you all an update. I'm up and walking and all told, things are good. My ankles are both still remarkably stiff and painful. It takes about 10 minutes of "ankle pumps" to get them warmed up to a point that I can walk in the morning. They still don't bend much past 90 degrees so walking is awkward and painful. My knee is doing pretty well, normal pain but nothing out of control. I don't notice my pelvis at all and my left wrist doesn't cause me much pain unless I'm driving for long periods. The fractures in my right wrist and hand healed really fast and don't cause any trouble at all.
I've been back to the crash site to try and put the pieces back together. The street turns out to be an optical illusion at 120ish mph. I didn't just ride off the road, I hit a 4' hill and went through a barbed wire fence. Twice. It's a real miracle that I didn't hit any of the things that could have killed me like a massive bolder or a number of telephone poles. It's likely that the initial impact separated my pelvis and broke both my ankles, along with knocking me out for the tumble. My knee, wrists and hand were probably broken when returning to earth from who knows how high.
Fortunately that is almost all behind me now. The knee will be healing for another 6 months or so and the ankles for another year before we find out how they did. Additional surgeries may be necessary but we won't know for some time. I'm going back to work in a couple weeks though so with a little luck, life will return to something resembling normal. I've been very fortunate to get a promotion while I was out so when I get back to work I'll be in the office full time and not required to trudge around in the field.
Things are finally looking up. Enjoy the photos friends and for the love of everything holy, wear your gear! You never know what will (or won't) be around the next corner.
Rubber side down!
Nice hardware.
