    Unhappy FML!

Ok so, Wed the 13 I was cruising to the Ferry to go visit a good buddy thats teaching me the INS and OUTS of body positioning and leaning when some idiot 3 cars ahead of me decided turn without a blinker. Then the 2 idiots following him decided to not pay attention and didnt see him turning till the last second and slammed on their brakes. Lo and behold, I WAS paying attention and had about a 50-60 yd gap and tried to slow down but wasnt happening so intended to swerve and CRUNCH I slam into the rear of the truck infront of me at around 25-30 MPH. at the point of impact I somehow miraculously turned my wheel to the left, pushed off the bars and impacted the truck with my left knew, right forearm, right shoulder and the chin part of my helmet. There was a off duty firefighter next to me in the oposite lane and he saw it all happen. Needless to say, I walked away with minor bumps and bruises. my bike took a beating though to the wheel, upper fairing, headlight, fairing/tach/mirror bracket, intake runner behind the upper fairing, radiator are all toast. Fork lower tubes might be bent, tripple tree stops might be broken. If anyone has any extra parts to help out let me know please.

I had a similar thing happen, when a pickup just stopped in the middle of a 45 mph 2 lane road. I manage to escape with barely between me and the bike an inch from the curb and 3 to the truck . Always gotta pay attention and look for out's.

Glad you're ok but def invest in SS lines and better brakes such as the Vesrah RJL's as they'll definitely help stop you at any speed granted you know your and its limits.

You can ususally score a set of forks off ebay around $350-400. I scored a complete set with triples off there for $375 to rebuild my pile after wrecking at the track. Just be sure to ask if they've been wrecked and ask if they can shoot you a pic of them with a straightedge next to them.

Another bit of advice, if your forks are bent, you're going to want to also replace the bearings & races in the steering head, as they likely took some of the force. As an example, I highsided @ about 100mph, and DESTROYED the front end, I'm talkin like the forks were bent back a good half inch. When I disassembled the front end, the steering bearings had actually left impressions in the races, so all that had to be replaced as well.

Glad you escaped relatively unharmed dude, coulda been a lot worse!

Thanks man, I picked up a set of forks for $250 and tripple tree for $107. I just need a windscreen period!
