got taken out on constitution ave in DC by a road rager. crushed pinky and a pneumothorax -- could have been much, much worse. Bike was okay (yay sliders). $30,000 in bills (yay insurance). POS do-nothing US park police didn't get the guy and wrote ME a ticket (which I beat cuz I'm awesome like that).

nothing like calling 911 on yourself from the side of the road as you pass out.

upside: dilaudid kicks ass.

Can't believe they wrote you a ticket, what was it for? dangerously lying in the middle of the road unconscious with a collapsed lung? (yes i googled it) glad you're still alive man.

failure to pay proper attention. the reason I went down and not through his rear window is because I was paying attention and locked em up and bailed. cop said his boss told him to write me up (his boss, of course, had no idea what happened since he wasn't there and the cop hadn't even taken my statement yet).

Cop wrote the ticket and laid it on my lap as I lay there doped up in the ER bed. it was a nice touch.

Sounds pretty scary. Glad to hear your ok and still riding. Did he actually hit you, or did were you able to miss him?

I've always just kind of wondered stuff like that. If you're on a bike or in a car, and someone swerves into you, and your only way to avoid them is crash, even if they did catch them, how could they even really put the blame on that person?

he cut me off and slammed on his brakes (no one in front of him, in the middle of the block ... clearly trying to take me out). i locked 'em up and leaned right (was the only thing i could do to avoid slamming into the back of him and going through his window).

i highsided and landed on the chest buckle of my backpack (hence the pneumo) right after landing on my right hand (crushed finger). bike when spiraling down the street. i looked up to see the asshole driving off. anyway, fucked up thing is the lean angle kill whateverthefucksitdoozit didn't work -- engine kept on going. luckily, there was a motorcycle behind my wreck, or i'd have probably gotten run over. he pulled over and helped me get the bike off the road. he stayed with me for about 5 minutes to make sure i was okay. the minute he left, that's (i guess) when the air started leaking out of my lung and started losing it ... had to call 911 on myself. with about 12 fucking US park police about 100 feet away ... just standing around picking each others' asses.

i firmly believe in cosmic justice. which in this case means that one day -- perhaps tomorrow, perhaps 20 years from now -- i am going to find that motherfucker, pin him down, break his fucking pinkies, and shit in his goddam mouth.

mikeyamahar6 would jump in at this point and tell you that it was your fault for following too close in the first place and that the only reason we're on your side is because you're a biker...

that is some fucked up shit man. I've had that happened to me a few months ago. Fucking punk kids would brake check me on the freeway and try to speed off. I was lucky, caught up until I could read the plates and back off. Called the cops, i'm sure nothing ever came from it though. What is up with these people?
