So I have to say this was the closes call I have had on the streets. I didn't wreck but man did I think I was going to.

So on the 405 following a guy in the carpool lane. Carpool lane is moving at a nice pace...about 60 mph. The lanes over are standing almost still. So I am cruising and out of nowhere the guy jumps over the double yellows to get out of the carpool lane over to the fast lane. Well there is no room to squeeze in between anyone so he basically starts slowing down big time to make room.

I don't know why but it happened so fast that I immediately got on both brakes. Since he was half and half between both lanes I didn't have time to get on the gas and get around him so I just started to brake. My rear end broke loose and because I was braking so hard it felt like my front also started to slide around. Bike even ended up stalling out since everything happened so fast and I didn't get a chance to downshift. Very crazy feeling since I have never had something like this happen before in all my years of riding street or track.

I really thought I was going to just slam straight into the back of this car but managed to get off the brakes a tiny bit and then reapply. He then finally saw me and moved back over. I got right next to him and through my hands up like wtf are you doing and him and his gf just look over smiling...really pissed me off and if my heart wasn't beating a million miles a minute I would have smashed his door in with my boot.

Anyways thought I'd share. Luckily I didn't go down but man I'm glad I finally put ss lines on my bike a month before. Maybe I should have left the rear pads stock instead of HH too heh. Think I might start wearing my gopro from now.

that's when you knock his mirror off.

HH is a different compound brake pad that offers greater stopping power. Gopro is just a popular camera lots of guys like to use on their bikes to record rides.

I don't think HH brake pad would have done anything different on this since you were on the street and most than likely your pad was cool. I could see the benefit on the track when you brake over and over again.... I think you manage well!! Good job. When I know I am going through traffic and I am in the lane that is moving and I am passing a lane that is stop, I slow down to prevent that....You never know when a stupid person will pop out the slow lane to jump in front of you...

P.S. You posted in the wrong section of the forum....It should be in the " Almost crash" section

Always thought the open lane carpool thing was a stupid ass idea. Our HOV / carpool lanes have a 3 foot tall cement wall on either side of you and there's only one entrance on and one entrance off at either end. You can go as fast as you want (traffic permitting) and not have to worry about a thing. I have had a similar exp with locking up the rear tire due to the back brake. I have not and will not ever use the back brake again.
