The damage....not bad at all. I just ground the plastic corner bumper down a bit. Next time its gonna be the case, if i keep this shit up.

Took a full spread pic of the trunk now in the daylight....Ya its wide. I guess thats what I get for being a bit cheap and getting these Holans over spending nearly double for the Touratechs. Holan also offered the "special" left case that hugs the bike closer, but has the cutout for the exhaust. That was another 100 beans though...

The new part that came in yesterday. I threw it on last night. Doesnt do much other than protect the beak and extends it a bit. But it does give it the GS Adventure look...

In all honestly, I can probably see myself picking up a 2003-ish R6 in a year or so. The GS can handle the turns if you throw it into some, but its no sportbike. Im enjoying the shit out of the GS, probably even more so than the 1098. But if I ever want to have a fast day, id probably want to throw my leg over a R6 or something instead of trying to ride the GS hard. Plus you look like a retard trying to drag a GS....

You need to replace those plastic corners with some titanium sliders

    Or at least delrin...

I was thinking about taking the pucks off my 2pc pants and duct taping them on the corners.......

Did you really lay the bike and the helmet on their sides on the ground?
I dont see how anyone could do that or even why they would want to.

It's a ADV thing. The point being that dual sports arent supposed to be pretty looking sport bikes. Thier supposed to be ugly war horses with battle scars. I haven't had mine over, on purpose......yet, but the previous owner all ready took care of that for me on the right side. Ill be more apt to do some offroading when the tank crash bars arrive.

OR maybe he actually dumped it like a noob.....

So how far out did you go to get it and what was eventful about it? The bike looks mint! How do ya like it?

I been toying with the idea of small 650 too. Definitely not this year or next, but at some point. The limited off roading i have done around here, is making me start to appeal to a smaller KLR ot 650GS. I think the benefit of the 1200GS is that its all do all bike. When the tarmac stops you can still keep on going. But if you ever set out JUST to do a trail riding day, a lighter, less bulky, less top heavy 650 is ideal.

But so far my version of offroading has been a quick tear thru a small dirt roads around here. Nothing trail-like at all. Thats the prob living around here in CT, its woodsy.....but not rural enough to go on some sweet roads like Pecha has in Tahoe. But im still looking....maybe ill come across some or meet up with some people who can show me.

Im just a bit apprehensive about it, with my GS having the base model solid rims and not the heavy duty spoke rims. One bad bump on a solid rim....gave over. The spoked rims like on a GSA, they can take alot more abuse before running into trouble.
