Thanks for the kind words guys.
I just got back from the dealer. Took the 1098 on her farewell voyage. As of now she's sitting on the showroom floor being de-tagged, shined up and put up for sale after the paperwork is done on tuesday.
I took out a GS for a test ride while it was being inspected for trade in. WOW....I LOVED IT. I LOVED IT LONG TIME! Its got grunt, but the kind of torque you want for the street. Ergo's are fantastic, I could easily see myself riding it for a day and never getting off it. It shifts like butter. And most of all.....I can actually hear that thing called "wind" again.....and i wasn't tone deaf after I got off it.
I took out the one in the above pic, but i didnt end up going for it. I liked the looks of it from the pics, but in person the bike was much dirtier and beat. It looked like it seen it's share of a war. It was better off in terms of accessories, but the condition was the killer thing in the end. It came with PIAA lights, the BMW hard case on the back, and seat....etc. Also I found it was prewired for a Garmin Zuma GPS. Which was nice and all, but .....meh. So they also had a 2007 with more miles on the clock but it was PERFECT. The previous owner bought it at the dealer and it maintained it meticulously. It looks brand new and its more a blank canvas than the red one. So thats the one i ended up going with. Picking it up on tuesday or wednesday.

Freakin' sweet! I'm pretty jealous. I rode a BMW tourer a couple years ago and loved it as well.
Thanks guys.![]()
Honestly this was probably my only second time behind a enduro/tourer. Everything i touched in the past 10 years has been a sport bike. I had a dicsussion with the sales guy and his associate about sport bikes. They kinda of agree with me that have gotten a tad "too insane" lately. They sold a handful of BMW RR's already and even they were like..... 193hp?! Amazing.....if you live at Laguna Seca. They said its still very streetable yet, but they agreed with the general idea. One of the sales guys even has a 07 R6. But even he said his GS.....hands down the best bike for anything but speed. We both had about the same outlook on bikes. You need something for everyday, distance, touring, off road, commuting, adventure etc...but if you wanna get the knee down on a canyon carving day, have a 600 on reserve. Thats my goal in the long run I think. I want to keep this bike for as long as i can, and someday in a year or two or three, pickup a R6 again and have two different kinds of stallions in the stable.
But for now....im off to masturbate to the Touratech website.![]()

Honestly, that S1000RR would have a hard time stretching it's legs at Laguna Seca. Maybe at Road America...
^ Good point now that i think about it.
I also just called up my ins company and changed the insurance over....the GS cut my premium in more than half. I was paying 875 for the year full coverage on the 1098, now im paying 415 a year.![]()

Kind of prophetic how you picked the yellow bike for your avatar and then ended up actually getting a yellow one.

Ha Ha no shit, good call on that. I just thought about last night after I posted about the insurance. A self fulfilling prophecy i guess.
Now only if I posted a GS Adventure as my avatar.......hmmmmmmm
