So what do you guys know about it? I might be in the market here soon for a bike and this is one I am strongly considering. I am open to opinions though. Let me know what you guys think!

I've seen a ton at the track this year. Richard Harris, the owner of STT and Apex Mfg picked one up this year, the bike is insane. For the price, and what it comes with compared to the other 1000's, I don't think you can beat it in terms of fun factor. Richard raves about it. He keeps telling me to take it out, but I'm scared of it.

I think it's one of the most beautiful bike! It's also the most advanced bike in term of technology. I would have a hard time to choose between the BMW and the Ducati 1198. However, owning a R6 with a inline 4 and knowing that I won't sell it since it's my first bike, I will probably choose the Ducati to have something different and with a different character. Performance wise, those 2 bikes are out of my league, I won't be quicker on one or another. It's more marketing than anything else I would say.

Go with your personnal preference but I won't buy an R1, ZX10r, GSXR1000 or CBR1000RR they are all the same too me. I would like to get an european bike just to taste something different.

it's a badass bike. i don't have first-hand experience, but from what i read, see, and hear that it does everything the japanese bikes do, but much better and to perfection. tons of power, better brakes, better feel (chassis, front, rear), light-weight, great ergos, electronics are good, but everyone has their opinion about that. some say it cuts in too much, but you can play around with that. personally, i wouldn't get the electronics and save myself some money, but it might save you from a hairy situation. so, it's something you'd have to think about.

on a side note, i'm deciding between this or an 09+ R1. love the cross-plane engine. what would you guys choose?

our rider actually chose the bolt on project BMW over our AMA spec built R1 because the Beemer was easier to ride and more comfortable to go faster on. food for thought.

How many riders are actually going to notice the difference between the two? They may, here and there, but very few will utilize the difference..
