If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don't really want to do it, you will find an excuse.

I got the same shit when I had my bike and now get the same with climbing. Like climbing, 99% of accidents are due to rider negligence.....in my experience. All 4 of my getoffs were my own fault due to my inexperience.

One of my best friends' cousins died on his bike. I didn't know him personally but went to the viewing to support my friend and his family. Before I left, my friends mom (who i know is an idiot) literally ripped me a new asshole in the lobby about how selfish i am to ride and look at what this did to an entire family, yada yada yada. She didn't let me get a word out for at least 4-5 min and when she was done i told her that my bike was sold over a year ago. She felt and looked like a total idiot. I was respectful due to the circumstances, but normally i wouldn't take shit like that regardless if i still rode or not (definitely will again in the future too )

Some people are just quite ignorant

I think the "i didn't ask for your opinion, so stfu" pet peev was in the other thread.

I think the people that claim that others who ride are selfish, are selfish themselves. To expect me to be happy and not do something I love are the ones who are selfish. Same thing regarding suicide....to expect someone to just put up with the darkness in their lives just so they can be happy are selfish.

This happens to me on occasion, usually when I'm getting back on the bike in front of the store I'm leaving. Old people always tell me to be careful and ride safe. I politely thank them and assure them that I wouldn't have it any other way. Yesterday I had a homeless guy who was asking for donations at a red light ask me if I've ever had it over 100. I said yes sir 142 tops. He was a thin overly animated elderly black man and replied with "oooooo weeee Mary!". lol I don't mind the bad mojo. At the end of the day I ride as safe as I constantly can and that's all that really matters.
