Buy it and don't look back. I bought a '98 916 last year and I love it. Maintenance is nothing extreme. Yeah you have to check the valves more often, but other than that it's not that much worse than other bikes. Oil changes, brake pads and clutch plates.

I paid 5k for mine without all the extras. Those wheels themselves would seal the deal for me. If it comes with an extra set of factory 5 spokes, I'll gladly take them off your hands for cheap ;-)

But seriously, I'd totally do it if I were you. But bare in mind it is not a touring bike. It's fun in the twisties, but not for all day interstate riding.

I'm only two girls short of a threesome.

I would buy the shit out of that. You're a pretty hand guy, I'm sure you can learn to do most of the maintenance yourself. I hear it really isn't that bad.

It already sold before I could make an offer.

Sorry bout that.....anyone have a truck to haul the 916 up this way?

    j/k

That sucks, Adam. But you're hell bent on a Tamburini, id hold off for a 996/998. They are slightly updated and of course a few years newer.

Yeah, I'm still looking for a bike, and I do want something newer. That 916 was just a sweet deal.

I gotta say that they really are sweet looking bikes for being 12-15 years old
