So instead of having the temperature control mechanism in the hardware that will turn it off if it gets too hot they say you can never, ever, under any circumstances, shut the lid and leave the laptop on without a 3rd party app? Not dogging Apple because I'm an iPod, iTouch, and iPhone guy, but that's a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Like after my first laptop was stolen this summer, I wanted to leave my mac on, but hide it. I wanted things to DL during the day. The fact I had to leave the lid open is fucking retarded. I am either emailing apple, or calling them, to nicely tell them my dispeasure of what should really be a standard feature. I'm usually on a recliner or sitting in my bed when I'm on my laptop. It's stupid I have to leave it open, which is much LESS safe to carry around to go from one place to the other. I have honestly probably wasted hours of my time thinking I was stupidly missing something in settings to do this.
