    Default ETI Tank Sliders

I recently picked up a set of these for my 06 R6. Unfortantly the 06+ R6 tank design sticks past the frame and during a wreck will crush in, split the tank and can cause the bike to catch on fire.

    YAMAHA TANK GUARDS

    From ETI's website:

Since their introduction back in June of 2007, our R6 tank guards have helped a number of rider/owners from barbequing their investment on the track. Designed to help reduce the possibility of impact abrasion related failures of the stock tank, these protectors form fit the tank and front cover. Produced using the same materials utilized in our lightweight fuel tank construction they now include 6 layers of kevlar at the most vulnerable spots on the stock tank. Besides looking good they help transmit impact loads over a larger area further reducing the energy to be absorbed by the stock tank. HARDWARE KIT AND INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED.

The reason I went with these instead of the Traction Dynamic's version because it provides more coverage.

Here is a picture of a tank after going down with the ETI's.

Here is with the Traction Dynamic's sliders/hockey pucks

I bought my tank sliders from Hollow Point Racing. Great customer service, great prices, quick shipping.

Contact me if you are interested on these and I can get you a price.

There are a few worse photos of my bike floating around this site from a crash with the traxxion ones. Also a couple of my bike with the new ETI ones installed.

Ive managed to crash test these a couple of times this year while racing. FIrst was a lowside doing about 110. Got hit just as we went into a braking zone. Bike slide for about 30yards. Got some rash on the slider and a little wear through but it held up as designed. No signs of wearing completely through and with a little glass work it was as good as new. Had a small dent on the tank under the slider.

Second crash was a lowside at about 60 mph. Same side as before. Bike slide across the track probably about 20 feet. Almost no wear on the slider. I did manage to bend a bar at about 90 degrees and a woodcraft frame slider mount, due to the bike hitting a curb.

Out of 10 Id give these a 9. Id give them a 10 but no highsides with them yet and lets hope not to find out how they do with one of those.

They should make these for the 1st and 2nd gen bikes too...

I know there arent any issues with those bikes as far as catching fire. But these are still nice to prevent costly damage to the tank.
