Default your opinion on these tires: BT-003 racing vs pilot road 2s

Im interested in getting the BT-003 or the pilot road 2,but im on the fence based on this information

The price on the BT-003's are extremely forgiving (about 80 bucks less than the pilot 2) and they are said to be super sticky; which is how i like my street tires. The only downfall is tread life;but then again i would be happy with anywhere near 3k miles on the street. pros: price, sticky. downfall: tread life i suppose.

Pilot Road 2s: Ive heard great things on these tires especially the multi-compound (ct2 sides), they are supposedly excellent for commuting in the rain also, and they last forever. I'm not sure how they hold up in regards to being too sticky.

So.... Price isnt really a big deal for me at this time (80 bucks ..meh) in the choice but i figure since im getting used to my new bike id probably want to go with the VERY grippy bt300s and downgrade at a later time, but then again having some DECENTLY grippy tires (do the Pilot road 2 fall into this category?) that last a long time would be worth the extra cash.

    what are your thoughts fellas?

thats one extreme to another dude, the 003's are a DOT track day/race tire where as the Pilot Road 2's are a touring type tire

i had pilot road 2's for a while and hated them...they take FOREVER to get up to temp...i was always slipping on them...i took them off with 10k miles on them and they still had a ton of life left

If you don't plan on tracking the bike at all and you'll be doing street riding, then pilot roads are my choice. You won't need anything crazy sticky for the road and wouldn't even notice the difference except with the tread life imo...

Guys, hes probably talking about the 003rs (non dot). Bridgestone just came out with these a month or 2 ago.

Those tires are designed for different things though. The Pilot Road 2 is more of a cruising/touring tire. If you wanted to compare tires the Pilot Power 2ct and the Bt-003rs would be on the same level.

That said, I have ridden on the 002rs and they were great tires. I got about 3k out of the set going up to the canyons every weekend as well. Ive also had Regular Pilot Powers and they were great too, but I like the bridgestones a bit better.

Try the stones, they have more grip than you will ever need on the street and they're cheaper as well.

precisely what i ment! i forgot to mention that they were 003rs. I was originally going between pilot road and 2cts but then these popped up at dirt cheap price!

    thanks for the input sir!

I run the PR2's on my FJR....a 650 pound bike. They take forever to heat up. I cannot imagine how they would act on a 400 pound bike. Until they heat up they are relatively slick, specially if it raining. I am using the PP2's on my r6 and was surprised by the mileage I will end up getting. I think i will end up with 6500-7000 miles including 3 track days. As I mentioned in another thread on this forum, I was thinking about the PP2 for the R6 for a ride to Arkansas from Virginia and back, but given on how they are more suited for a HEAVY sport tourer, I would look at something else....Maybe the Pirelli strada without the E rating?

Just read the post above, the old Pilot Roads may be better, but I am still thinking they are better suited for a heavier bike.
