So i just bought my bike yesterday, first one. It has the fairings of an R6S, however when i check the vin it says 2006 YAMAHA YZFR6L. Is this the same bike? or were the fairings changed on me?

So i just bought my bike yesterday, first one. It has the fairings of an R6S, however when i check the vin it says 2006 YAMAHA YZFR6L. Is this the same bike? or were the fairings changed on me?
As far as I know, there has never been an "L" model. You either have the R6, or the R6-S..

well i researched my vin it gave me "2006 YAMAHA YZFR6L". Below is a pic of my bike. Im just going to go with the assumption that its an S lol

L is an official designation from Yamaha, as well as PL. Don't ask me what exactly it stands for, but I think it has something to do with the emissons package, like the L is 49 state and the PL is Cali emmissions. You have an S model, even says so on the fairing.

ya i was double checking..i figured the model number from the DMV would say S on it...oh well just curious..ty

No, it's technically 599cc...but they say 600.
