Default How-to: Clean/Change/Replace your Air Filter

Start by removing the screws in the rear of the rider seat located underneath, there’re two.

Then remove the two screws in the front of the tank

Then if you want prop the tank up with something or just hold it while you remove the 6 screws around on top of the air box.

Pull the top half of the air box off and you will have your air filter.

You can now replace it with a new one or you can wash it.

If you are going to wash it just take it to the sink and rinse with soap and water for a good 5-10min and then let is air dry. You can set it in the sun for a couple of hours it won’t harm it. I wouldn’t recommend using compressed air though.

Also it doesn’t need to be oiled, but should be according to the manual, you can apply a light coat of engine oil to the outside, or purchase something like K&N filter oil from your local auto parts store.

halcyon026 brought up the idea that it may provide better performance if not oiled but would provide much better protection if it was.

Oh and for the ones who wanted my girlfriend to pose Vana White style…here she is on my friends GSXR
