Default Bike starts but won't go!

I've never had a problem like this before, so hopefully you guys can help me out. When I start my bike, put it in first (or any other gear) and disengage the clutch, nothing happens. It feels as if the bike is in neutral or the clutch is still pulled in. The clutch feels normal and looks to be working fine at the bottom end, but no go. Also, when I click through the gears it feels normal as well. However, when I put it in gear, the speedo displays a speed. Anyone know what's wrong?

Given that the speedo reads off the output shaft of the trans your front sprocket must have come off.

oh man, i hope your output shaft threads didn't strip like pamela anderson when she was 19!

this happened to me last summer and ended my season in early september.

    this was the result:

i lost drive to the back wheel when this happened mid turn in a twisty !

took me all winter to swap out the output shaft and did some engine work while i was at it.

^ bummer! three options, pay a mechanic $2000 + for parts and labour, part out the bike, OR....learn to be your own mechanic

sorry to hear brother, right at the beginning of the season too, shait!

good luck, if you need any help or pictures send me a message, I'll hook you up.

    Cheers.

Hi Dzuyd, could you pls email me some details of what I'm checking for if this same situation just happened to me and if it a retaining bolt that may have come off? I have the EXACT symptoms. Thanks SO much for your time.

Hey Dream, first thing to do is to not ride your bike. Second thing is to make sure you have this problem. It should be easy to spot. on the left side of your bike: take off fairing, take off coolant reservoir, take off that plate that covers the part that your chain goes into. This should give you access to your front sprocket. If that part is loose, then you now know why you're having problems.
