    Question 2001 yzfr6 motor questions

Im using a yzfr6 motor to power my home built dune buggy. Im ready to start hookin up carbs when I realize the spec shows coolant from around the heads being routed into the lower part of the carb, around the float bowl It seems. The plastic piece separating the coolant flow to carb 1,2 is broken on my carbs... Does anyone know the downfall to bypassing this loop in the cooling cycle? The part I can buy but it requires me to break down the csrbs.. Id like to prolong this till winter if possible..

    Plan to reroute...

I th ink I can just connect the coolant lines comming out of the block directly to the radiator.. Only downfall I see is the temp switch.... Its located in the carbs. Will this keep my motor safe and cool?

I am pretty sure the only reason the coolant goes through the carbs is to cool the fuel down before it gets sprayed.
I know I bypassed it once on one of my bikes because I could not get it to stop leaking and I noticed no difference.
If I am not mistaken, I don't think the coolant is even routed through the carbs on the 99-00 and they are the exact same engine.

The coolant running through the carb has ZERO to do with cooling your engine. It runs through the carbs and right back into the engine.

And yeah, post up some pics

Yes, I've seen the engine before. I meant whole buggy but realized I didn't clarify.

Question Re: 2001 yzfr6 motor questions

I think they are attached now. The radiator has 2 spouts in the upper right hand corner. I believe they connect to the carbs and from the carbs they go to spouts on the block.... True false? Anyone have this same year bike that can confirm this info? Manuals and blueprints show nothing.

Those coolant lines need not be hooked up to the carbs. They are actually there to heat up the carbs, I believe for emissions or something. I bypassed mine many years ago and eventually broke off the barbs on the carbs. Bike runs great. If I remember correctly, it was a popular mod to bypass the coolant to the carbs for better performance, and it will help keep the fuel in the carbs from vapor locking when you let it sit after running, and allows easier hot re-start.

    Oh and nice buggy.
