    Default Random Oil Change Happenings

SO I changed my oil today (first time), and I followed the instructions, etc. The oil didn't drain out of the bottom, however, it came FLOWING out of my dipstick hole. Any idea on what could have caused this? I'm all finished, no problems show up on the oil light, I'm just wondering what happened, as me and my buddy are both baffled.

So when you opened up the drain plug, oil came out of the dipstick hole? Was the bike laying down on the right side?

I don't know what to tell you. Unless you didn't drain the oil and/or WAY over filled it, there should be no way oil could be coming out of the dipstick hole.

Yeah, that's a new one. Unless you had the bike rubber side up?

Lost me. Can't say I've ever removed the dipstick while I was draining the oil though.

this is a little confusing...did you take the drain plug off and nothing came out or you took the dipstick off first (with the plug in) and it came out there? if the plug was still in and it came flowing out of the dipstick that would make sense, it means somethings causing pressure in the crankcase. have you done anything with the crank case breather?

I didn't take out the dipstick till I had taken out the bottom plug, and the top cap on the clutch case to help it drain, but it still didn't drain after opening both. I took out the dipstick after plugging up the other two holes and filling it with a little oil. Like I said, I have no idea what went on, but I've checked it since then, ridden her, etc, and it's fine. So idk. I only took out the dipstick to check the oil level at the end of the change, and thats when all the oil decided it wanted to come out.

is this your first oil change on a bike? this may sound stupid (and completely wrong) but I'm thinking you didn't unscrew the oil drain plug, added new oil over the old oil that you already had in there, then when you unscrew your dip stick, the overflow spilled out.

I completely understand you're cautiousness in your comment, but yes I did unscrew the oil drain plug.

But nothing came out when you did?
