follow the manualevery 4k miles. if you do track days, every other track day.
For my track bike I did every other trackday or after every race weekend.
For my street usually every 2000 miles. I'm anal, have too much time on my hands and rev the piss out of my bike everywhere I go.
Refer to your manual or you can change it how often you want imo. Depends on the conditions. My bike manual (600RR) states you change the oil every 8,000 miles. I'm at 15,x something miles now and have only done 3 oil changes. Pure light-to-light city riding for me though. Bike runs like a champ still.
^ with synthetic oil I wouldn't have a issue with that. but generic dino oils I wouldn't run them that long.
the best you've ridden is the best you know.
I change my oil every spring, I only ride street.
I don't normally put more than 4k on the bike in a summer, if I was putting 10k a year, I would change it every 4-5k
