    Question Battery reccommendation?

So the factory battery that came on the bike finally bit the dust after a loooong 6 years / 15,xxx miles and I was just wondering what you guys do for batteries when it comes time for a new one? Do you stick with whatever works? Are there good brands / bad brands etc? Thanks! - N

batterystuff.com if you want a good factory replacement for cheap (and quick shipping).

if you want to pay $200+ and lose like 7-8 pounds (you're tiny, doubt you care about shedding weight), you can buy one of those new race batteries that weigh next to nothing.

I thought bike batteries were only good for like 2 years, at least my battery was from time of purchase, got a road king battery last time a little more then reg. but better warranty no biggy. The light ones cant be that much can they? Gotta be a cheap light weight, will search word it because its time for me again too.

They are pretty expensive. Most are designed for race bikes that do not have to power headlights and a ton of electronics. So by the time you get one big enough they are pricey.

Well I called up to one of our local perf shops where I was told one of the employee's didn't submit a new order for parts on time last week so their shipments were late, thus, they didn't even have a batt to sell me. I then had no choice but to roll up to the Honda Motorsports dealership and see what they had to offer. 100% OEM ran $135, they had this cheap as crap batt for $50, but they guy said it was junk and only really for if you were about to sell the bike and needed a batt or some shit, and then the last one a 3rd party brand for $120 but came with a 2 year direct replacement warranty. OEM only came with a 1 year. So, I went with the 2 year aftermarket one. Guy even took $25 off the price when he saw all I had on me was $100 in cash and was about to walk out. Bike runs great now though. Really woke it up it seems. I'm happy.

It's been cleaned a zillion times. Besides, going on unemployed for nearly 2 years now, the little money I have does NOT go to toys or things anymore. Bike, video games, etc. It goes to rent and electricity and that's it. Hell, I just sold the motor out of my Mustang in the garage to pay next month's rent. :/ Yes I could throw it out, but then what? Have only a TV in the living room and no place to sit?

I'm still using the original oem battery in my bike. it's build date is sept 2002. I never charge it with a external charger either.
it's a gs which I found out is a name brand that yuasa owns. so it's made by yuasa but sold as a GS. and it's a AGM. they can sit for 15 months without a charge because of their low self discharge rates.

I would think all R6's have a AGM if mine did. so they should be able to handle long periods of time without a charge.

anyrate, I've seen a bunch of people raving about scorpion batteries on other forums.
mainly because they're about $55 shipped and they're AGM also.

I have one. I charged the piss out of my oem batt all I could. It would hold for a couple weeks, then a week, then days, then a day, and then it wouldn't even hold a charge at all. I got stranded out and about on the bike a good 10 times last month. So annoying. Call a ride, go home, get tools, go back, pull battery, go home, charge battery, go back, install battery, ride home. Rinse, repeat... This new battery is a beast. Bike runs so much stronger now. Even idles higher. O_o
