    Cool Wiring Issue...

Hey all, new to this forum and looking for some help.

I have an 06 R6 trackbike which has had a bit of work done recently...as I was pulling the bike apart 2 small wires dropped out from the wiring loom on the clutch side...after stripping back more tape I can see the previous owner may have spliced into the wiring, but Im not sure exactly what he has done...Im only guessing that he has done the clutch / neutral bypass mod as its a trackbike....but I dont know where the 2 wires go that dropped out

Here is what Im looking at...

Im guessing one of the wires is used to bridge the red and brown/blue wires but for what reason im not sure :\ And the other stray wire Im not sure what that did....

He has done the sidestand switch mod by the looks of things as well.

If you have an idea of what this guy has done...please lemme know its doing my head in.

Do you have a picture of what wires dropped out?

I think that is for the ignition switch. Im pretty sure that is disconnected on my bike as it has a keyless ignition. Im working on my bike within the next day or 2. Ill look for ya and post up.

That is one of the two plugs that lead to the ignition key barrel. There are 5 wires that come out of the barrel but one is a dummy or used for other purposes on CA/Euro bikes (immobilizer?) The two small wires can be jumped, but the two larger wires can go to a switch for keyless.

Cheers for the feedback. Yes, your right the wires do goto the ignition. I took the tape of the blue wires with the red connector, and found same thing...wires have been cut into but Im not sure why. So I have 2 wires that have dropped out and 4 points where the conductor sheath has been cut into...hmm.

Attached are more pics and also pics of the wires that dropped out, one is a small black one and the other is red/blue which you can see in the last shot which I took before I started pulling the bike to bits....In actual fact the red/blue wire looks like its just sitting there...very hard to tell from the photo if it went anywhere at all.

As it stands, when this bike was first started after the rebuild it was only running on 3 cylinders, so this is just one problem Im trying to sort out which may or may not been related to the engine issue. So much fun !

After doing a bit of searching on forums etc etc I think what im looking at is the keyless ignition mod ? Whereby you bridge the two larger wires brn/blue to red and the two smaller wires blue/yellow to blue/yellow. Hmm.

the two smaller wires are jumped, and you put a switch between the larger two wires for a true keyless ign mod.

^+1. Did it on mine as well to replace the keyed ignition with a toggle. Looks like the main two wires that were stripped behind the connecter could have been done to start the bike if the dude forgot to bring his key to the track or something.

On the connector at the top in the pic above, these are the two you jump together to bypass the clutch safety switch:

DD - i finished the keyless part of the setup, is the clutch safety jump required to complete the keyless mod? I always start my bike with the clutch in, or neutral anyways.
