change spark plugs every off season (prepare for this to be a bitch...)
clean air filter every off season, more depending on your climate
speedo healer is what you're looking for, google search will yield multiple results.
Agreed with all of that except air filter. I would check it once a month and clean/oil as needed. The type of riding you do also makes a difference. You will pick up alot more crap riding on the street vs track (unless your tracks are in the desert, kali boys). Also, don't forget to clean out the filter/air box after wrecks.
well sad to say i have been overseas for a good amount of time. i put almost 38k on the bike the first year i owned it. i changed oil about every 3k miles. I have only had dealre change airfilter once, then i went overseas and bike was down for the rest of the time until now. i started her up and put a new tire and a few other things in her. i am about to do the oil change and spark plugs/air filter but i cant seem to find my oil around here anymore. i have to order it online.
youre suppose to change the spark plugs every 8k miles, i have to do it every 6k because i ride track and no theyre are not a bitch...but i wrench for a living. how the hell did you put 38k miles on it in 1 year?!youre also suppose to get your valves adjusted around 26k
they're bitchy on the third gen.
I just went rideing. lots and lots of it. mostly on the highway. i am active duty medical. and i am from NYC but work in VA so every other weekend i went to NY and thats about 700-800 miles on way. so it adds up fast. i went overseas and now just trying to get it back to 100% just making sure i didnt miss anything you know. but i dont know what gen i have sad to say. Any input on plug type or tools i should get to change them/airfilter also. * i have only had the dealer do most the work in past.
the only thing my bike is doing at the second that bothers me is it throws a check engine light if i dont beat on her. I brought it to the dealer when i only had 5k on her and they said it was some weird code and told me to open her up and it would stop doing it. i normaly run top fuel 104-109 oct. when i can find it if not i run 93.

Some weird code eh? Sounds pretty technical. If you grab the code off your dash we can figure out what it is for you.
Other things I'd look into checking other than the stuff above would be flushing and replacing your coolant, and brake fluid for front and rear brake systems. Also keep an eye on brake pad wear, and another thing to do, especially if the bike is subject to harsh weather, would be to inspect and lubricate your swingarm pivot, shock linkage, brake slide pins, and axles, and to remove your front sprocket cover and clear out any old debris and rocks and crap that build up in there.
If you really wanna get after it, have your fork oil replaced too, I'm sure it could use it after 38k.
yeah dude download the service manual we have posted. it shows you how to enter the diagnostic mode and test all of the electronics and sensors on the bike. along with reading the service codes.
no need for a dealer mechanic on the R6 unless you are completely lost wrenching on anything.
oh and stop using gas with a octane over 93. you're probably getting leaded race fuel. your bike has an oxygen sensor and a catalytic converter. the leaded fuel will fuck up the sensor and plug up your converter. plus you're wasting money using higher octane fuel without being tuned for it.
it's been beaten to death on many forums. there is no more available engergy in 115 octane than there is in 87.
your bike was factory tuned to run on 91+ pump gas. that's all it needs. no more, no less
