Wow, that's completely bad ass, man. I have RaceChrono on my phone, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. (Also, my phone blows ass, so half the time the GPS won't work with anything but Google Maps for some reason). What phone are you using?
you sir, kick ass.
If it wasn't for your plumber, you wouldn't have any place to go.
This is really sick. So you got a little rig for your phone on your bike or you just stash it in the tail?
^+1 i'm curious to how you got your mounting system set up
Think.
I bought this. It's a water proof box that the Droid just barely fits in. I took a Dremel with a sanding drum to the inside of the boxes corners to give it just a hair more room. Not a lot of material was taken off...just a quick touch of the sanding drum.
Then I just use that little rubber tie down strap that is supposed to hold the tool kit in the tail. The small box fits perfectly in the tail. The medium may fit, but it might be too big. The phones touch screen still works through that rubber film that comes with the box.
I figure that the box coupled with being inside of the tail should be plenty for crash protection. Not only that but you can still put on some rain tires and keep logging
Basically yes. The phone simply logs and can do instant reviews. The main portion of the work is done by Excel. It puts all the lat & long coordinates logged by the phone through some trigonometry equations and then out pops a track map in the right format that's needed for the animation software.
EDIT: I'm going to make a detail write on the Excel portion over the next couple of days for a local riding forum. Some of the guys here were interested in a step by step for the Excel part. If you guys are interested in that then just let me know and I'll post it here too.
