Any of you ever used plasti dip?

This is a discussion on Any of you ever used plasti dip? within the R6 Modifications forums, part of the Yamaha R6 category; I just heard about. Seems like a cool product for repainting on the cheap or if you just want to ...

I just heard about. Seems like a cool product for repainting on the cheap or if you just want to change the color quickly. I doubt I would use it anywhere that sees abuse like rearsets.

Seems like a cool way to turn your scratched up blue bike into a slick new flat black bike.

Peels right off when you are done.

they have multiple colors as well... white, black, blue and I think maybe red as well. I plan to do my truck rims with the spray on this summer.

Yep, used it on my S4's grill:

Stuff works great and really does just peel off. Some guy on one of the Audi forums painted his whole car with plastic dip twice. Once storm trooper and once murdered. He said there were no issues what so ever peeling it off. Storm trooper looked nicer than black because with the black you can tell where the pain was unevenly sprayed. It's also a little different using plastidip than reg spray paint. With Plastidip you need to need to get closer and lay thicker coats. I'd recommend a little practice before you attempt the real thing.

How long have you had your grill done?

Gone through car washes with it?

From what I read, it is pretty much just like a sticker.
So if you have ever put a sticker on your back window, this plasti dip will be about as durable as that was.

My car is entirely black. So I really don't know what I could do.

I was thinking of some matte red stripes or something.

I am pretty sure i will paint the R1 with this stuff come summer time.

I've had it on my car for about a year and a half now. Even if it doesn't last long, it's seriously so easy to peel and redo if you wanted to. I have taken it through the car wash and it handled it just fine. The only thing you have to really worry about is using towels to dry it. The dried plastidip feels rubbery and lint loves to cling to it. I dry my grill with compressed air or a lint free cloth.

I'm going to use red PlastiDip on my Black car next time I rob a bank. Go around the corner and viola, suddenly not a suspect.

It's doable. I plasidipped a door panel on my Z, peeled the whole thing of as one sheet in less than 2 min.

I thought of that as well.

I might try something on the vette when it warms up.

I've been reading some reviews about how it gets brittle after a long time and comes off in pieces.

Pirate, you left yours on for a pretty long time (1.5 years you said?), have you taken any of it off that has been on for that long yet?
