    The oiling issue is hearsay. If it was a big issue, then Yamaha would have recalled it. I'm a firm believer in if you don't take care of your things, its more likely to break...

    2006 R6-
    air filter screw recall: the screws can potentially vibrate out and get stuck in the throttle bodies causing the bike to not slow down.
    tachometer error which is pretty well known and insignificant (the true redline is like 1k less I think?)

    2007 R6
    fixed all the 06 bugs

    2008 R6
    too new to know at the moment

    werent there some issues with the rod bearings also?

    Anyone else get a nasty almost rattle at lower then 6500?
    I don't baby the bike. Has 2000 miles on it 07 r6. Any other problems with the new models?

    Yes, there was some rod/crank case issues on a few bikes. Apparently, the issue was in the oil passages.

    In fact, here's a note on the 2008 spec, to fix this.

    Revised lightweight crankshaft features 31mm bearing journals. The inertial crank mass has been optimized for excellent throttle response and impressive acceleration. The crank journal bearings feature new design oil holes that increase the supply of oil.

    I have 20k on my 06 and i have not had any problems. I changed the air filter to BMC and all that. other than the reg maintenance, this baby runs like the day i bought it.
