    Default Not Getting Gears Easily

I am having a problem. I pull the clutch in to downshift and I have to fiddle with the shift arm forever and practically stomp down on it to get it to shift into the gear I'm looking for. Its like its sticking or something. It usually gets stuck in 2nd going down to 1st. Any Ideas??? Thanks for the help and sorry for the lack of info, as I'm a n00b..

Stock rearsets? Make sure the shift rod is not binding on anything.

Make sure your shift rod is adjusted properly. Check the shift arm and the shaft (going into the case) to see if everything's straight.

How hard are you stomping on the pedal?

When it gets stuck I gotta like pound on it (almost standing on it) and letting out the clutch a little then pull it all the way again and then it comes loose with some work.

also, make sure you let off of the shift arm completely when you shift. i use to have the problem of keeping a little weight on it after i shift up and when i would go to shift again i would still be BARELY pressing it and it wouldn't shift.

Make sure your clutch lever has some free play. Don't "stand" on the shift pedal...if there IS a problem, your going to make it worse, possibly breaking or bending a shift fork. How many miles on the bike?
