I got an 08 as well, this happened to me twice... First time it was slightly longer than usual, and the last time it wouldn't start for a few mins... Maybe cause I was parked up a hill and sideways <no gas at the fuel pump??

Sounds like a classic TPS problem (if it happens fairly often). If not, could also be a rich/lean adjustment or even TB sync.

It's not the bike, the 08' R6 is a SOLID awesome bike. Probally the best R6 model built yet>> But in reference to his problem, yes it is probally the plugs, Because this is a 13:1:1 firing engine, if you switch to a lower octane of gas it'll burn faster and wont cause such a slow "bogged down" start. Just try that then switch to a high octane gas and some octane boost right after you burn through that and see if your plugs are cleaned out a bit better. It is very possible you had a bad' batch of gas w/ forigin material go through your bike and now your pluggs are showin it. IF it still does it, change to some NGK spark pluggs and gap them a tad bit farther then you would completly stock. IF that doesnt do it, pay the yamaha dealship one hour of labor to diaginous the problemm for ya and itll probally be the starter or battery the bikes fine dont worry, just a simple problem here. Dont sweat it.

Oh and make sure if you change your pluggs that you check them for "black" or a gold color (rich or dry) and bring one to the dealer if u end up goin- they'll find the problem in less then 10 min easily.
