    Default 06-07 Catching Fire?

I been seeing more threads about the 2006-2007 R6 catching fire when hitting the ground because of the fuel tank extending pass the bikes frame.

I called Yamaha of Cypress, CA and they have heard of a few R6's catching fire but there is no recalls on the design of the fuel tank.

anyone that has had there 06-07 R6 catch fire because of this flaw needs to contact Yamaha of Cypress, CA and file a complaint. Once a complaint is filed and enough of them are generated, Yamaha can/may/might issue a recall on this defective flaw in the fuel tank, but as of right now there isn't enough calls generated to do so.

If you know a rider that has an 06-07 R6 that this has happened to, let them know to call Yamaha ASAP and file a complaint.

Its a known issue to most of us. A lot of race organizations now require tank sliders. I went with the traxxion stuff. They could fit a bit better at the edges but they will do the job. They actually add a nice touch to the bike.

The funny thing is if the '06-'07's were doing this because the tank extended to far out you would have thought that for the '08's they would have brought them in some But instead they extend even further out then the two previous years

I haven't heard any reports on the 08-09'S catching fire, thought gas tank was redesign for this same reason.
