Tired of paying $900 for helmets...

I don't think any main brand helmet these days is any safer than another brand. They'll all save your noggin. You're paying for fit, finish, and features. Hence why Spies is perfectly content to wear a (very custom made) HJC, and DePuniet wears a Shark, etc.

^ Yep. Safety wise, they're probably all very similar. It's the little finishing touches that really make the helmet.

And to the point on Spies, let's not forget when he wore one of Colin's spare Arai...

Lol that had nothing to do with it being an arai. He was the only guy in the paddock with the same helmet size. In fact he was so ashamed he covered the name. Lol

again, that's a contract thing. I'm sure Ben wasnt "allowed" to be seen wearing an Arai badge.
