Default Tired of paying $900 for helmets...

So Arai has practically ruined me. Their helmets fit me so well, and breathe so well, and have such good aero that other lids just feel like garbage on my head. But honestly, I can deal with downgrades in most of those areas, but Arai does something else. They shape the opening in the helmet so that I can actually see when in a full tuck. I think the top of the visor opening is beveled or something. Every other helmet that I've tried on, if I go into a tuck, I can't see shit.

So does any other manufacturer, preferably one that doesn't want my firstborn in payment, make a helmet you can see out of in a tuck?

Alternatively, has anyone ridden with both an Arai Corsair and a Quantum 2? I'm curious how big of a downgrade the Q2 is.

I have the same issue with the less expensive lids. Even in a moderate tuck, you must have your head tilted backwards in a goofy angle so you can see out of the top and its a fuckin pain after a while.

I had a Q2 for years and and loved it. It is a bit loud but once I just got my Suomy the Arai is damn near silent compared to it.

I would have stayed with Arai but like you, they just cost way too much for me at the moment.

Which one do you have? I have a spec-1r and it is the loudest helmet I have ever worn. It is comfortable too but it just isn't on the same level as my old Q2 Arai.

I've always worn Suomys, but they are loud as hell but vent great. I just wear earplugs though and I'm good to go (everyone should anyways). As for full tuck visibility, it's not the best, but it doesn't seem to matter for me, I'm rarely in a full tuck, and when I am, I don't really need to see where I'm going anyways.

I'm wearing the Suomy Vandal right now. I did one session without earplugs (was in a rush to get on track) and didn't even notice the noise.

    +1 for the Suomys.

I had a Spec-1R for a short while, before upgrading to an older Arai RX7-RR4 (Kenny Roberts replica). It was almost on par with the Arai, except it felt a tad bit heavier on my noggin.

I like Suomys a lot, but they don't fit my head worth a damn, unfortunately.

    SHARK is my favorite.
    I will wear nothing else.

You can catch some pretty god deals. The RSI is actually not their top line helmet but I like it better than their RSR2.

SHARK is the only helmet I have owned where I could even get into a full tuck. All the rest of them would hit my jacket/leather when I tilted my head back.

I like my Shark as well. The RSR2 is super light and real comfortable.
