Like the title says. Looking for a relatively inexpensive jacket that won't be so hot in the summers here in south Texas. I have a motogp jacket right now, and while it's a very nicely made jacket, fits great, excellent armor, etc, it's pretty damn hot. looking for something that's incredibly perforated or even, maybe.. textile.. if there are any decent ones out there.

    Suggestions?

I'd probably go with one of the Alpinestars nylon/mesh jackets, like THIS T-RC-1. Normally, I'd say RUN AWAY from mesh jackets, but these are incredibly smart.

It has heavy duty ballistic-like nylon on the outer arms, upper chest and upper back (aka crash zones), with mesh on the inner arms, lower chest and back for greater air flow. Still has the CE-approved soft armor inside, like all the other A-stars jackets, and comes with a removable windbreaker liner.

You can pick it up for around $200 through our awesome sponsor, Sportbiketrackgear.com.

Sharp jacket! im running the Shift Airborne jacket.. and the guy from STG kinda.. knocked the jacket pretty hard in the video.

I like it for the price. Its going on 3 years old now.. and if i washed it, would look like new. Very cool (temp), fits great, adjustable straps in the waist and removable elbow/shoulder/back armor that apparently doesn't come with the jackets anymore (not like mine has at least).

The thing i fucking hate about the above A* jacket, and most leather jackets, is the fucking leather strap with a button on it at the collar. I realize it is multi-purpose in that it secures the top of the jacket and holds the zipper down... but looks hideous when your jacket is unzipped and typically doesnt lay down when its not buttoned. Otherwise, Id buy it.

Damn good point for sure. My motoGP jacket has one, but it's way less hideous and looks fine when unzipped. That thing is at the very neck and looks huge! Granted, I just need something cool. I'd rather have it look gay unzipped, than show up everywhere I go all summer drenched in sweat cause I hit a few stoplights

Get a mesh jacket and take out the liner.

newenough.com had some great deals the last time I looked for one.

I have an A* SMX airflow jacket.

    This one...

Honestly with the liner removed and if I am moving its flows a ton of air and don't mind wearing it on the hottest of days

The cool thing (pun intended) about that Alpinestars jacket is it has a coolmax/neoprene-like collar and wrist. It's not leather or itchy mesh on the inside. It actually keeps you cooler.

Have the same one. Fantastic here in the south Florida heat. Which is worse then tx because of our redic humidity.
