I actually thought a lot about buying these because of the price, before I decided to change my order at STG (had about a $200 credit due to items on backorder) from Icon Stryker Elbow and Knee Guards and a chest guard to instead get either the Held or Knox gloves, until realizing "I make a living with my hands,...if I mess my hands up, I wont get paid, its best to protect my "investment"(my hands) or it may cost me lot$ of ca$h down the road, so I rather invest in some truly great gloves now that I have the chance. I want to thank DangerDog and everyone that has shared their "incidents" with the rest of us so we can LEARN from each other, thats the great thing about this Forum and that there is barely any trash talking (I cant stand that crap).
If I have a problem like what happened to DangerDog with a pair of gloves marketed as being top of the line and actually didnt work, I'd be in Ton$ of Trouble! I wanted to learn from others!Spidi Pentas and My Hand, Post-Wreck read his story!
I needed gloves that have been "crash tested" and that do what they are supposed to, so for SURE the HELDs would have been top choice for that and the Handroids have been through about a year and a half of crash testing and STG as well as Knox have heard that the Handroids come through.
I'm not too fond of non-gauntlet at all gloves because the following can happen![]()
I got worked in an intersection w/ pics. **WARNING** 2 are gross! Read his story! (thanks Frankie6 for sharing!)
The Pods are 3/4 gauntlet, which I feel give great protection, more affordable, so they seemed like the best I can get next to the Helds which are out of my price range. The regular Handroids are full gauntlet which im not a huge fan of either, being that im often stuck in 100 degree + weather, bumper to bumper with hot exhaust fumes coming from the cars all around me, making me feel like its probably 115 degrees!!
From my understanding Knox has also made minor adjustments from feedback to make the Pod gloves even better
I noticed that they have one version with the first two fingers being primarily white and the last two fingers black, but on the UK Knox website they have the first two fingers Black, which I liked more and very luckily the team at SportbikeTrackGear.com were able to get me the version I liked although I couldnt find anywhere that talks about these two "versions". Personally, I would have bought an all black version if they made em'
I wore them home last night for the 1st time and they felt great out of the box, being leather I know they will conform to my hands within about a week. I have had to start out with baseball gloves, and slowly work my way up to better gloves as I got money saved up, my last pair was $20 so this was a big investment for me, so please make it a priority to protect your hands because really we all need our hands for pretty much everything, I'll write updates or answer any questions when I can thanks!![]()
