    Default Motorcycle Gear and work

How many of you use your bike to commute to and from work? I have about a 23 mile commute each way, and take my bike 5-6 days/week. I work 10.5 hour shifts so I have to bring all my food for lunch and between meals, as well as gym clothes to go to the gym afterwards..

I am wondering if all of you wear full gear to and from work, and if so, how this works? Personally down here, I would be drenched in sweat if I was to wear leather pants on that ride.

As of now, I wear my work boots which are leather and cover the ankle and steel toed. Blue jeans, jacket, gloves, and lid... Then in my tank bag I leave my gym clothes/shoes, and in my backpack I have all my food, hard hat, safety glasses, and other odds and ends.

Part of me would like to wear more gear, but it would honestly be even more of a hassle. I can't enter the yard without steel toe boots, so I would have to change in the parking lot, as well. Same with if I was to wear leather pants.

I know how hardcore so many of you are about gear gear gear. Rightfully so. I have came a long ways from the squid I was when I crashed my r6 back in '06 and ended up going to physical therapy for a week so they could continue to pull the gravel out of my side (I only had nursing scrubs on, yes I was an idiot, I lived in a small town, I wasn't a member of the board, I didn't know better. My MSF teacher even said helmets are only for open casket funerals )

So now I'm asking you guys, how many of you actually wear full leathers, boots, etc., to work every day and change out of it and then back into it at the end of the day?

Trix, I can relate bigtime. I ride everyday, winds, heatwaves, rain, etc. 14 miles to the first job, 30 miles from there to the second job, then 37 miles back "home". At the first job, I change out of my clothes and put on a business suit and its normally ok because i go early morning and its not too hot. I reluctantly wear a full racing type pants with ce armor in knees and hipsthat are perforated and I wear motorcycle boots: AXO Slammer Constructor Boots most of the time but lately since my heels on my feet having been freaking killing me from when I was working 3 jobs and they havent healed im using these boots because I can wear them as part of my uniform for work since they are black and feel great...plus they have reflectors on the back that work great when riding home at about 2-3am! In addition by wearing them it saves space in the tiny locker they give at the 2nd job. I usually get to work very sweaty because I also wear a jacket since it has CE elbow shoulder and back armor, but it's a Bitc*. Thats why I was going to get the "stand alone" icon knee and elbow guards plus the chest protector to go with my knox ricochet back protector, so I could actually wear a tee-shirt and shorts with my boots and still be protected, but for now i just have to handle it and hope the heat of summer is over soon. I got to go but I will write more when I get back.

I don't have protected riding pants but I do wear my back protector (even with a back pack), leather jacket, gloves, boots, helmet all the time. No matter what the temperature is.

Commute 60 miles a day in rush hour cali traffic. I have my work shoes and clothes at work.

I wear my jacket, gloves, helmet, riding boots and kevlar reinforced jeans. They jeans work great and I still feel safe in them because they also have knee pads. I also wear a backpack to carry my lunch and other items.

You can always get a tank bag too to help carry stuff.

Thanks for all the posts everyone. I have been wearing my work boots as my riding boots anyways, but I think when I get riding boots I'll just see if I can leave my work ones at work somewhere. Unfortunately, I am not able to get to my office without having to have steel toed boots on, maybe I can get around that if it's for the safety of the ride to and from work.

Azr6. I have a tank bag as well. I think I'll be putting all my gym clothes in the tank bag, and my work stuff in my backpack. Maybe I can just start renting a locker at the gym and leave a weeks worth of clothes in there. I hate cardio and don't break much of a sweat lifting

Does anyone know of any good steel toed motorcycle boots? I need new work boots probably more than I need motorcycle boots right now, but if I could have both that would be ideal. Too bad the ICON Chuka boots only look steel toed.

I wouldn't want to use steel toed boots while riding personally. I think it would be almost dangerous considering you would have zero feel for the shifter. Just my personal opinion. I wear riding boots, my jacket, gloves and helmet every day to work. I rock jeans though, not proud of that aspect but its only a 6 minute commute and I rarely hit 60km/hr.

What do you mean zero feel for the shifter? Maybe yours is way, way smoother than mine. Is it aftermarket? I have to put a bit of pressure on it to shift up or down..

I don't think there is a motorcycle street boot that is steel toed but I'm not 100% sure.
