I needed to get paperwork from my workplace after getting laid off. As I got into the private property, I was immediately tailed by the police. I noticed him on the way in, but didn't know he followed me until I was pulled over. He pulled me over for going above the posted speed limit (25) and for sticking my knee out (right....). Cited for no insurance and no mirrors (fresh off the trackday). Since we were in private property, he had no right to get me for speeding (I wasn't doing that anyway...). He then proceeded to lecture me about riding properly and boasted about being able to beat me anytime on the track...
. This happened this past May this year.
Fast forward to today, I get into court. The bailiff was eyeing me the whole time (dressed up but wore my riding jacket just because). The judge was real nice and was in a hurry to get it over with. Tons of dismissals and reduced fines (YES!). Unfortunately, she got more and more aggravated by incompetent offenders and grew impatient with non-english speakers. The latter made her repeat herself up to 5 times per person. It was certainly a test of patience and I applaud her for remaining super composed through it all. The rest of the crowd were increasingly showing their impatience (sighing and such).
Finally it was my turn. I came up to the stand and plead guilty. Asked if I can reach inside my jacket for my papers and my phone for the pictures and proceeded to show it to her. Then the bailiff suddenly pulled me aside and watched me intently (what? did he think I was going to take out a gun or something? wtf). Judge said, "Dismissed, but i don't want to see you back here again - same line repeated earlier many times. Woohoo! I was worried about catching a fine for the mirrors but got away scott free!
Other than the time spent and the constant worry of a parking ticket (got called 10 minutes before expiration), it was a good day at court. Thanks Judge Tem! I just wanted to share a good experience for once around this part of the board.
For the others who may have a court day coming up, good luck and I hope you guys get a nice judge as well..
