I Fought My Traffic Ticket and Won Via Trial by Declaration

Last year, I got pulled over in the carpool lane. Got a ticket for $416.00. I was totally at fault, since I was driving by myself.

a few months pass, I ask for an extension.

another few months, I pay the ticket and request a Trial by Declaration. This allows you to write an argument on paper to the judge explaining why you are not guilty. You can draw diagrams, send in photos, etc. I simply wrote, "I am not guilty" on each page and turned it in.

It goes to the judge. The officer is then asked to send in his report of the ticket. The judge then decides who is right. Welp, six seeks pass and I call in to check on the status. It appears that the cop never sent in his report. So by default, I WIN and I get $416.00 bucks back.

I've done this about 5 times, and I've won 3 out of 5. Not too bad.

if I were the judge I'd be too busy laughing my ass off.

yea, in california, everything is expensive. i have a friend who paid late on her red light ticket.. and had to pay $900 dollars. sick.

They must be super serious about controlling traffic out there, lol.
