Default Note to Self: Don't take track bike on street EVER again... multiple tickets :(

Started my track bike up for the first time after the winter and figured I'd take it "down the road and back" to make sure she ran OK before the track day. My boyfriend was worried when I wasn't back in 20 minutes and came to look for me... Finds me with my hands on the front of the cop car, bike propped up against a telephone pole, cop threatening to arrest me and tow truck on the way! YIKES!
This was 6pm... we're supposed to leave for the track 8am next morning.

Of course I have no tag, registration or insurance, was clocked going 82 in a 55 and he says I was going 102 when he was trying to follow me... sweet. Thank God he decides not to arrest me (after saying I'd be pretty hot going to jail in my full leathers haha). Writes me tickets for speeding, reckless driving, no insurance, no registration.

End result: $80 to bribe the tow truck driver to let my bike go, $570 in tickets... and that's after the cop dismissed the reckless driving (nice guy) and the magistrate dismisses the no registration since the cop didn't put the citation number on the ticket.

Man, I'm a dumbass... lesson learned!

    stunaz:
dumbass me took track bike on street
cop almost arrested me and impounded my bike
    cost me $650

i've done it before and got caught. guy didn't know how to handle it so he called for backup, luckily the guy who was his backup was a friend of mine that i hitch a ride to trackdays with.

good to have friends in low (or high?) places.

Wow. I was just talking to a friend the other night about how I wanted to take my track bike on the main roads around here. I do it occasionally around my parents development but my dad has worked in the township at one position or another over 25 years so he knows all the cops but I wouldn't get away with it elsewhere.
