Except for the intense damage to your rear tire, and the possibility of doing it wrong and laying it down, they don't harm the bike at all.

You should do them, all day long...nothing could possibly go wrong from doing them all the time

Yes you can mess up the tranny (know of 2 people that did this at a burn out competition) also when the tire was "melting" flying allover the back/bottom of the bike it can do some damage and take a couple of hours to clean up.

But hey nothing says cool like someone doing burnouts all the time, so I say go for it
(unless your in a stunt comp then they are actually half way cool )

How did they do that? Were they running through the gears, doing 3rd and 4th gear burnouts while standing still?

Yeah they were changing gears sitting still. You see you just can't win a burn out competition staying in 1st gear, you've gotta go through them, and by through them I mean annihilate a couple of gears on your way to 5th or 6th

Make sure an unplug your radiator fans and get your bike to about 225 and do a 5 minute long burnout. Nothing gets pussy like throwing con rods.

watched a guy once blow a radiator hose so he let off the front brake and moved forward into the radiator fluid and kept on going till his motor went.. was kinda neat.. and it was on a fured out F3.. so no real loss
