    Default Generator Questions

What generator do you use for your track day or race? Do you like it? Is there a southern California store (that I can walk into) that has a variety of generator? I haven't had any luck finding a store that has more than one in stock and it is a little too late to order one online.

what genny are you looking to get? wattage?

i found a used (20hrs) honda 2000 on craigslist for $700. the case was a little beaten up, but the motor itself was well taken care of. A brand new is roughly $900-$1k. yamaha came out with their 2000 model thats slightly cheaper. kipor, mcculloch, and honeywell have there own version of honda clones. but it all comes down to honda as the benchmark for reliability. i saw berts and mission motorsports carry honda & yamaha in stock. berts also has the 3000, but that thing is a bitch to lug around, and it doesnt come with wheels. i would call around lawnmower shops and service dealers and see whats the best deal you can find. more often then not, the small places will price match. cheapest brand new honda 2000 i found was $875 cash.

you can go to home depot for high wattage gennys. its a husky brand with a subaru motor, and have heard good things about them. sound level with those, i'm not too sure how loud those get.

^thanks. I would go with the Honeywell (for the price) but I can't fine it in any stores. I will check a few lawnmower shops today.

Nothing beats the Honda EU2000i. Been using mine for over 4 years now on one oil change! Damn thing just won't quit.

Actually there is something that beats it..

    Yamaha EF2000IS

It seems that TrackDaz soon may have a small fleet of these bad-boys available for rent at TrackDaz events, and some WSMC events.

Dude, I remember when you were nothing but Kawasucki crazy and I had to show you the way to Yamaha glory! Now you bleed Yamaha blue.

By the way, that genny actually looks smaller than the Honda one. How much does it weigh with a full tank? The Honda weighs around 56 pounds with gas. But then again, I bought mine nearly 5 years ago now, and I don't think Honda have changed it in all that time. The Yamaha might be a better genny?

I believe the Yamaha is a tid-bit lighter, as well as a tid-bit quieter.. Plus its Blue instead of that "other color"

You generally need about 1000w per set of warmers, right?
