Looks good so far!
Did you ever manage to get that bolt out of your swingarm? If so how???
and your paint rig looks real nice lol![]()
I called the shop and the guy said that I need to bring the swing arm down. So I went to take it off and before I started taking things apart I realized I need chain tools to pop the master link out to take the chain off.![]()
I'll find out the name of the method they use to extract it. I had it done once before on my 4runner engine block and it was $40 which also included a heli-coil to retain the stock bolt.
Here's my method for taking the swingarm off. Took me 30mins taking my time to pull it off. Iworking on bikes! So EASY. I put the pegs on jackstands until I go the swingarm off. The rearsets were flexing, so I put a long 1/2" drive extension thru the swingarm pivot shaft and took up the load of the bike with the tie straps.
Here's the tail fixed waiting to dry and get sanded.
Here's the upper spot sanded and ready for fiberglassing.
I got the swingarm back today and on the way over I knew there was going to be scratches on it from the guy at the shop working on it. Sure enough!!!. And it was the boss that did it! I was keeping my cool and was obviously pissed. He apologized and said that they have never worried about or done cosmetic stuff. WTF do you think you're working on?!?!? I didn't say that. The guy knocked off part of the cost for extracting the bolt. I'll post those pics later.
sucks about the swingarm dude. I freak the shit out when someone even looks at the bike, heaven knows how'd I feel about someone working on it
but dang, I gotta say, thats some nice fiberglassin work you got going on thar![]()
^^Pretty easy. Learn as I go. I'm pretty patient with this stuff. After a while I just say fawk it and slap a sticker over it.
The machine they use is called an EDM. Cost me $60 with a heli-coil insert.
