I mean no offense to you, but about 25 percent of my boot camp division wanted to be a SEAL and about half of those had the attitude that they would succeed and had trained for it. I'm not sure how many made it, but I'm pretty sure 25% of the navy isn't SEALs. Maybe you are SEAL material and we don't know it. But until you finish Buds everyone will think you are full of shit. If you mention it in boot camp you will be given an extra hard time. If you find it hard then tap out then. You can still drop out of boot camp until you graduate without repercussion.

If you choose to go that route, you will be required to pick a rating as a fallback. Make sure you pick one that you can tolerate, also make sure you pick one that qualifies you to try out for the program. Some rates are undermanned and will not let you attempt.

with that mentality and a strong perseverance you will be accomplish anything. Like chief said you will have to embrace the suck. You're life WILL become hell but the reward is worth it IMO.

my is to go Army or Marine, get a combat related mos (11B, 21B, ect) , or whatever its called in the CORP, then go to selection. I've only known of 2 guys that've gone to selection, BUS/S, right out of basic and passed. Get some experience under your belt first.

I've never seen anyone in the Army that big. I bet he's really a civilian working for the Army.

I highly doubt he is a civilian. If he is a civilian and carrying a weapon then he would NOT be in a military uniform. Judging by the fact that everyone is carrying weapons and the fact that the setting in that picture looks like every other chow hall in Iraq, they are deployed. I have seen bigger than that hippo in the Army, mostly 45 year old SPC's in the Guard. Most are in the process of being processed out. Some deploy because the Commanders simply don't deal with the guy in time before they leave. That Soldier is a prime example of his leadership failing to train him and keep his fat ass from eating so much food that he expanded like a blimp.

honestly, and i don't know much about seals or other special forces units (compared to most in here), but there are a couple points i had to pick out.

    1. what is your athletic, competitive, or professional background? a lot of people "want" to do something hard, but wanting is a lot different than doing.

    2. there are a lot of very respected ways to serve, just because you aren't a seal or some other cool title, doesn't mean you aren't doing a great job and making a difference (read up on ranger school, its hard enough)

    3. don't let anyone tell you no, but set your goals realistically.....high. pain and fatigue make cowards of all men, some just less than others, so put yourself in the worst possible scenario for a month (run in the cold rain with shorts and a tshirt on for 45 minutes, sit in a bath tub with an ice cold shower on and try to process thoughts, don't eat anything but vitamins and water for 3 days, don't sleep for 48 hours, etc) and then reevaluate what you want to do, because i can assure you that whatever hard shit you think you can put yourself through, this training will make it 100 times worse.
