Anyone been to Al Asad?

Got some questions.

Just a basic question on what to bring living in the "cans." Could you give me a rundown of important items to take? Power adapter, certain tools, chair, certain uniform items? Thanks!

i was there in 04-05 as well...and back for another stay 08-09. I'm actually at a FOB 250 miles away now....but it's the same for that one week i was here waiting on my ride to the new base. as far as what to bring....laptop, movies, music(ipod or whatever you prefer). power adapters you get get cheap here for like 4 bucks. just check to make sure your electronics are 240 volt. otherwise you will need a step-down converter. 25 bucks in on the high side for one here. i brought a beach chair with me. that's my favorite thing i brought. it fit PERFECTLY in a seabag. if you're coming in our winter months, bring winter gear because it does get cold here. other than that...it didn't get it's nickname, camp cupcake for no reason. any other questions just ask.
