Odd request...

Anybody have an enclose trailer full of crap I can pull around for awhile?

I'm thinking about upgrading trailers at some point this year, from my current 5x8 open utility trailer to an enclosed trailer of undetermined size. I'd like to go as big as a 7x16, but I want to be sure my truck can pull the damn thing first.

So if anybody has an enclosed trailer with some stuff in it, and who wouldn't mind me pulling it around for a half hour or so to see how the truck does, lemme know.

The truck is a 2007 Tacoma. I've pulled a car on an open trailer before with no real issues, but I know pulling an enclosed rig is gonna be quite different...

Interesting request; Suggestion. Doesnt the trucks owners manual tell you what the trailering limit is? Might you just be able to look up the trailer weight for the trailer you are considering purchasing and then figure in what your going to load into it and go from there?

Yes and no. The max towing capacity of the truck is 6500 lbs. But that doesn't mean that you should be towing that much weight around all the time. When I towed that car, the total weight of the trailer and the vehicle was around 6000 lbs, and while the truck handled it fine, it's not something I'd want to be doing all the time, ya' know? I want to be sure that it's not going to be a problem to tow my prospective trailer to and from dozens of track days and race weekends.

how much does the bigger trailer weigh anyway?

They vary a little bit, between one and two thousand pounds. The bigger concern to me is the wind resistance at speed.

it will kill your truck with a 16ft my 04 jeep grand with a 8cyl and 6800lb cap. dont like the wind much....it will do it fine just knocks you around a bit

Way different chassis though. Engine size doesn't matter nearly as much as the chassis stability. But that's why I want to try it out, see how it does.

I'm not really close enough to you but do have a full size 14x7 tandem axle Enclosed V-nose(16ft to the nose not including the tongue and 8ft from fender to fender) that you are welcome to try but its up here in NW Ohio about a 2hr drive or so.
