Well,
Loch Raven Resovoir near Cockeysville (just north of Timonium) has some decent roads around it. Warren Road (which will get you near the resovoir from York road) is probably one of the best single roads in that area; however, it's heavily trafficed during rush hour.
South of Baltimore, you have an area near Ellicott City. Illchester Rd --- Hilltop Road -- Thistle Road -- River Road -- Newcut Road --103(Back to Illchester) will give you a decent route. There are a couple small streches of connector (main) roads between them but they're not too long.
Past those, I'm familiar with S. PA (right up 83 into PA) and the area where Scott is from I know a little bit of. There's one stretch near Scott that you just can't compare with the roads I just mentioned.
I've had a hankering to get back on Creek Road, and the bike's been sitting still for way too long. Prolly take me about an hour 20 to get there... gotta do it one of these days.
Berk, you need to show me the roads around Lock Raven sometime![]()

Try falls road. The whole thing is long as hell with sweeping curves and great views. If you want some really badass routes, pm me and i'll mark it off on google maps for you.
I lived right by Loch Raven for about a month when I left Delaware. I think I got the bike out there twice, and have been up there twice more since. I'm still learning the best roads there, but would gladly show you what I know sometime. I just gotta remember to draw out a map and tape it to my tank next time I'm there.
I can't promise the best ride, but I can promise the best BBQ joint in MD, as long as it's not Sunday.![]()
I tell you what... most of the routes that I have found/made on my own I found by looking at street maps and trying to choose a road that looks like it has some nice turns.
There are tons of roads all throughout Maryland, the biggest problem is finding them. And Loch Raven isn't too hard to navigate in that area.
Wow... I just realized I haven't been on the board in forever.![]()
